Gerry and John,
Actually, the plicata and luminata alleles are co-dominant with neither one
prevailing over the other when they occur in combination, so that the
result is a mixture of plicata and luminata characteristics in the
appearance of the flower. The term luminata-plicata or lumi-plic has been
coined for this pattern, although such flowers have also been called fancy
plicatas (an ambiguous term also used for other patterns as well). If both
parents carried the recessive glaciata allele then it is indeed possible to
get seedlings from them displaying the glaciata pattern.
Ghio's SKIPALONG is a lumi-plic.
