To Fellow List Hybridizers,
Being a beginning hybridizer with a couple years behind me and many years to go, I find that everything creates questions in my mind. This year I am really enjoying all the MTBs that we have planted and I want to try making some crosses with them. Some are tets.
Will tets cross with non-tets?
What will I get when I cross an SDB with a MTB ?
How about a BB with a MTB?
Can one get some MTBs by crossing to TBs?
I have heard that some of these crosses will not take because of infertile parents or chromosomes that don't match up. Is it just trial and error or is there some rule of thumb? I love the MTB form and would like to create these.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to send my way!
