CULT: bloom report, kudzu iris

Lots of buds blasted and stalks stopped in their tracks by that last
series of freezes, but new stuff coming along. BLUE POOLS (SDB) putting
on a nice show (yes, down in the foliage, but at least the flowers are
big enough to see) (thanks Walter), I. reichenbachii (thanks Ian),
LITTLE SHOWOFF (SDB) getting started (thanks Mark).

'mart iris labelled PORTRAIT OF LARRIE has 5 stalks, & a ton of increase
- unbelievable performance for a new iris here, & seems to be frost
proof. I can hardly wait to see what this one turns out to be - the new
kudzu version of something, for sure.

As you folks can see, between listers and WalMart, I manage to find a
few things that will do well here <g>. I am kidding - these are the
early bloomers, so are ones I wouldn't ordinarily buy because of the
high risk of their not doing well because of the late freezes.

WIDOW'S VEIL continues to produce blooms, tho still far down in the
foliage and pretty mangled.
