Dear Anner, I agree with you. I have belonged to AIS for over 20 years and can honestly say that dollar for dollar I have gotten my return in enjoyment many times over. I will gladly pay the extra. I just crossed I.Pallida U ? with Swertii pollen. Don
t know what I'll get if anything. Cheers from MO. Mary C. Brown mccarbrn@janics.com

Forgive me for asking, but am I not permitted to think about money when
others are mentioning the fee and we know AIS is fiscally strapped from time
to time? The phrase "Who knows what the market will bear was certainly not
intended to suggest that AIS scalp people, but simply to say that it was not
at all clear to me that the fee suggested, or the price I felt was more
realistic, was that which would be of maximum benefit to all concerned,
especially if this service is to be made available to botanical gardens,
universities, libraries, horticultural societies, non-AIS members, what have
you. Organizations, even non-profits like AIS, have expenses. They have to
think about getting hold of some scratch or they end up short and can't get
books published, or necessary equipment for the library, or whatever. Then
they have to raise dues, and we know how popular that action has been in the
past.
