I had been using the database to look up some names to get registrtion dates.
The information I got back refferenced the Checklist book that they were in
but not the actual introduction date. This means additional work and needs
access to the registration books. The master list gave me the date of
registration but not the date of introduction which is what I was looking for.
It would be nice to be able to do one stop shopping. Still an inprovement over
going through book after book and perhaps misssing it. Another usefull device
would be "sounds like" for such things as Gnu Generation. I could be thinking
of the name "New Generation" and think I was clear when the name had been
taken with a "different" Spelling. . There are a number of names with
creative spellings and it would be nice to be able to fing them, much the way
a spell check can find my creative (but not intentionally so) spelling.
Thanks for all your hard work. I would think that there could be two levels of
membership to the list. One fee for AIS members and another for non members
and perhaps another for institutions. You should see some of the costs of
libraries for the professional journals.
