Kathy.... a noble and very deserving project!

Are you aware of the work of Dr. James Waddick, Director of the Rare Iris
Study Center? As a bit of background, the objectives of this organization as
stated are:

1. Encourage the study of wild iris species populations in order to
determine their identification and distribution
2. Emphasize iris species that are threatened or endangered in their
habitat, especially in regard to their likelihood of cultivation
3. Coordinate study of wild iris populations and their habitats with the
research objectives of funding organizations and individuals
4. Collect and distribute rate iris species to knowledgeable botanical
garden collections and specialty growers
5. Encourage conservation of species in the wild and in cultivation,
including distribution of seeds and plant to reduce wild collection and
improve cultivated stocks.

It seems to me that he would be helpful in identification of your setosa and
in offering educated advice on your plans and be able to supply the
information you need.

You can reach him at <<jim-jim@SWBELL.NET >>

I have taken the liberty of forwarding your e-mail to him, and of copying him
on this.

And, for the record, I am standing up and applauding wildly.
