Nothing in this eastern Zone 3 except reticulatas. We are also 40 miles from
the Canadian border but Quebec not the western provinces. It seems we have a
shorter growing season even though the winter cold is categorized as being
the same, -40 F degrees. We only got down to
-35 F this winter.

I am interested in the American Hort. Soc. heat zone map and it looks like
our area is in the purple-lav. (the second one next to Kathy Haggstrom). I
think Montana is warmer in summer than we are. We usually get more than one
day above 86 degrees here in summer so I think the bloom sequence project
should reflect the summer heat which might translate into a longer growing
season?? Just guessing, Jeff. :)

Cheers,

Ellen (no snow today - might reach 50 F - only reticulatas in bloom)
