CULT: bloom report

Almost another freeze last night! Fie!

Several early bloomers straggling into bloom, so not all were killed by
that 26o freeze. ZING ME is open, but ratty looking (it was a bit that
way last year - may be naturally that way?), DRUMMER BOY (IB, HIST, new
this year) looks somewhat like the ferocious IB/BB unknown from Mary
Rogers in Chattanooga, only more delicately colored and shorter. Still
a few buds to go on SDB LITTLE SHOWOFF. And a straggling bloom on
CUMQUAT (IB) -

The two plants of HOOKEM' HORNS that Mike Sutton sent me to torture last
fall have made impressive clumps already with more than one stalk
apiece. Definitely has what it takes! At least as far as rollercoaster
winter & late spring freezes go - Now if I only liked space agers :<

Pallida got frozen out, except maybe a stray stalk somewhere that I've
overlooked, so no funny crosses to try on it this year.

At least most of the plants have recovered from the last hard freeze and
have grown unbelievably with all the rain and cool weather the past few
weeks. Going to have TALL stalks again this year.

John invites us to his home (iristalk), asks us to keep our name tags
with addresses on (sign our posts), and introduce ourselves (post a
little about ourselves when we first sign on). He also asks us to be
polite, and to go to a different part of the room where there are signs
up announcing the topic for different discussions (use subject lines).
For some reason, he doesn't ask us to leave when we ignore him and even
tell him he ought not have this kind of party.
