I'm in San Juan Capistrano, which ought to compare. My best TB performers
(only attractive iris need apply) are EPICENTER (striking black cherry on
apricot plicata), TIMESCAPE (big, ruffled lavender & white blend), DAWNING
(well-branched lemon yellow with peach infusion), ROCK STAR (shorter,
raspberry on salmon space-age plicata), LARRY GAULTER (tall, ruffled dark
purple), IN PERSON (well-branched pink), PERSIAN BERRY (boysenberry-mauve),
and CLOUD BALLET (lacy, delightful icy light blue with deeper coloration on
edges of petals). Depending on your color/pattern preferences, I would
highly recommend any of these. Feel free to contact me directly for more
detailed information. Iris certainly do have regional preferences. Some
iris that are beautiful in Oregon aren't worth a &*@!!&#!! in our climate.
Maybe try some louisianas, too?

I'm breaking out of the lurking mode for a moment to see if anyone has some
suggestions as to what TBs grow well in the Los Angeles area. I'm thinking
specifically of the frost-free areas, not too far from the ocean, where
they
can grow citrus and bougainvillea. I keep giving my mom irises that do
fabulously in hot, dry, slightly frosty Central California, but they act
like
wimps at her house.
