The heat zone webpage sez I am zone 7. Period.
No other zone
attempted by them for my zipcode other than the
existing USDA zone.

Unless you are on the top of a mountain you are
probably also Heat zone 7 according to the map in
my "Heat-zone Gardening" book. Which means your
average is 60 to 90 days per year with temps above
86*F.
