The same observation is true for this area, though I would substitute
"median" for "dwarf".
Nearly all the Blyth TBs I have grown perform adequately and bloom
regularly, but they are never among the most vigorous cultivars in the
garden. The medians, however, especially the IBs, are regularly outstanding
in their performance and vigor. Unfortunately, this characteristic is not
universally shared - CHANTED has been very slow here.
I wonder which areas in North America are the ones where Blyth TBs really
thrive? I suspect it is those with milder winters.
