RE: CULT: louisiana transplant/scale

John,

I don't know how effective it will be for a really heavy infestation, but I
just tried the lice shampoo on my ficus that regularly gets scale in late
winter. The infestation was about two weeks old (I was busy) and I sprayed
a solution of half a teaspoon per quart once a week for three weeks. It
was the most effective non-toxic method that I've used. I've been spraying
and wiping with a 50% alcohol solution previous years and you really have to
wipe it down well and treat it for six weeks.

You could try a combination of an alcohol soak and cleaning it off before
planting and then spraying once a week with the lice shampoo solution.
