Just to let it not go unmentioned...Jeff himself took the second to the most blue ribbons in the show. His entries were spectacular. Thank you Jeff.
I have finally gotten my picture of my design on the computer which I will send out in Iris Photos. It was difficult to snap since my hands were shaking so bad, for I was soooo nervous. This was the very first show I have ever entered, and I have never made a floral design before.
Thanks to California's Eileen Fumara's judges training in floral design at the Tucson Area Iris Society's last meeting, I was able to come up with a design that seemed to have pleased the judges. Kathy Chilton, President of TAIS was Apprentice Judging the show, so she did not enter, but her Vice President, Joanne Miller, walked away with a blue ribbon herself in floral design.
Amid all the nervousness and anxiety, it was a LOT of fun. I will definitely do it again.

Last weekend the Sun Country Iris Society held their 31st Annual Spring
Show. It was a great success with an increase in entries of 85% over
last years show. The big winners were two "iris-talk" regulars.
Francelle Edwards won the Best Specimen in Show for "Smiling Gold" and
Patrick Orr won Best Artistic Design for his entry in the category "Baby
Loves Iris". The show theme was "Everyone Loves Iris". The award for
most blue ribbons went to Joyce Poling. The spring weather is being
very kind to us here in the desert and it may have played some important
part in the number and quality of entries.
We'd like "iris-talkers" to join us in congratulating Francelle and
Patrick.
