Thanks Claire. I don't know what color balkana is.
Shall we swap our 'easy to grow historics' and see if they are indeed
similar? Mine came from seed-grown stock so wouldn't be the same, but
if the same species, surely that would be apparent from growth habit?
The color on this one is about the same as BABY BLESSED, but more...I
don't quite know how to describe it - maybe less pigment, but clearer
yellow? And although the photo shows a light center in the falls, that
isn't noticeable 'in person'. If you actually do have reblooming
balkana, I think several people would be happy to hear it and may
descend on your garden with shovels in hand <g>.
<I think I have the plant you posted as reichenbachhii. I also have
a similar yellow that reblooms. We have a lady in our iris affiliate
who shared this and has had it for many years. She is in her
90's. We just call it the historic yellow iris that is easy to grow
and share. I have never seen a photo of balkana but is it also
yellow? Claire Zone 8>
