Since most of the rainy day crosses here involve SDB's I use an upturned
large plant pot. There are usually a surplus of these lying around the
garden. It is such a shame to miss out on that almost opened bud, when a
rain cloud is looming.
for slightly taller plants I balance the pot on a couple of rocks (which are
also in excess). I have been known to cover a TB bud with a plastic bag,
loosely (not tied) but don't recommend this practice.
BTW Christy, I always have trouble with Americanese. Is that a white 'trash
bag' you use, or a 'white trash' bag? :-)
cheers, Jan Clark,
who did most of last years rainy day crosses, by carrying the potted irises
inside for protection.
