Re: Arilbred in Cold Areas/California irises in the Northeast

I planted Esther the Queen last fall, and despite heavy snows over
the winter and severe flooding for the past month or two, I planted
ETQ on very high ground and it seems to be thriving (nice green 3-4"
growth so far. It'll be another month or so before I see if I get
any bloom...and there's 6-8 inches of snow predicted for tonight.

I have to say that from the approximately 40 irises I planted last
fall from California, I've only definitely lost 1 from the harsh
winter (Claire Louise). The others seem to be doing well, even the
dozen or so that spent about a week under a foot of very, very cold
water. It'll still be a while before I know for sure, but so far,
they've really held up well under some pretty extreme conditions.
