Welcome to iris-talk, Debi!

USDA Zones are cold hardiness zones based on expected minimum winter
temperatures. The higher the zone number, the higher the minimum
temperatures. There are many sites on the web where USDA Zones are listed.
One where you can enter your ZIP code and find your zone is at
http://www.gardenweb.com/zones/zip.cgi

AHS Zones are heat zones. The higher the zone number on this system, the
more heat accumulation there is during the growing season. You can find
your heat zone by accessing the American Horticultural Society webpage at
http://www.ahs.org and then by clicking on "heat zone map".
