No iris variety should be judged on the basis of a single rhizome in a single 
location for a single season. If you get three or four rhizomes of a single 
variety from a good grower, the first year bloom might vary greatly from one 
rhizome to the next. One may bloom fine, another short and twisted and a 
third not at all. Imagine these rhizomes sent to three different gardeners. 
One would report the variety as good and two would be unimpressed. Give the 
variety a couple of years before an evaluation.
