Here in southern NM, new growth seems to show the most purple -- whether 
spring growth that breaks winter dormancy or fall growth that breaks summer 
dormancy. The PBF of fall growth seems to persist a bit longer, but that's 
not surprising if you think about the intensity of our summer sunshine.
