I live in Florida, and grow all my Irises in containers. Based on what
you say, I am assuming you are going to use "above ground" containers. I
grow some TB Irises that way, as well as Iris japonica.
Because of our summer heat and high sun intensity, I use light colored
pots for the most part, and have the plants in a partly shaded area. In a
container about 18" across, I would only put one fan, because it should
increase and fill the pot in about two seasons.
The Tall Bearded Irises can stay outside unprotected through our many
freezes unless a bloom stem is present. Iris japonica is tender, and must be
taken into the garage during freeze weather.
