Hi Donald,
Don't give up yet!
We've had seedlings leap up suddenly, or take over a year to sprout.
Last year INDIAN CHIEF (a number of plants) bloomed from November
through the summer. We are just seeing bloom stalks on it now, this
year. Some of our unknown-historics, which last year were in bloom
by my March 14 birthday, don't have bloom stalks yet this year.
Every year I grow iris, and every year we learn more about it -- and
one thing is, it can be really different from year to year.
And just to make you feel better, I haven't finished half of the
weeding, still haven't finished DIVIDING! (and they're chomping at
the bit!), there are leaves all over the place, and yet one can still
stand there and look at bloom on TURKISH HERALD, FAIRY GOBLIN,
GERMANICA VULGARIS, UNKNOWN-CHARLOTTE'S, UNKNOWN-LUDY'S, OREGON
SUNSHINE, and smile.
Don't give up, and don't forget, it doesn't have to be perfect, for
us to love it.
