Yes, Donald, sad to say your memory is correct, about my having scorch, that is! :-) Not to say I'm sad you have a good memory!! Scorch was a pretty bad problem up in this area last summer, the one before for some people, too., but it was probably even worse the year before. I lost some plants last year, but not nearly as bad a problem for me as for some of my friends. Cal Reuter, who lives in NE Nebraska, lost well over 100, maybe closer to 200; I believe that was in year 2000. That's out of some 1200 plants, but still a very large percentage. All my hypotheses relative to the degree of severity of winter--year 1999-2000 was extremely mild, and I thought maybe that was why such a major scorch outbreak--were destroyed when 2000-2001 was very hard and my scorch was worse than the year before. It will be interesting to see if this one will make a difference: unusually mild through February while March was well below average temperatures almost every single day. I'm hoping that March cold spell will make a difference, but since nobody knows what causes the disease I won't know for sure anyway.
