Three years ago I moved six irises in mid January as test subjects. Most
literature suggested July/August was the preferred time to transplant in my
area. The test subjects were moved with some dirt on the rhizomes. All
survived. Most bloomed. No adverse effects were observed.

Dear One . . .
I live about 100 miles from you and would not move
irises during any of the above-mentioned months in
this area. Usually September is the best time, but, often
it is too hot, and October turns out to be the best
month in MS.
Whoever writes the literature for wire services
or other print media lives in an apartment in
a much cooler zone and gives incorrect information
for most of the country. I recently read a wire
service article that says TBs bloom in late June.
The author must have lived in Canada. Heed the
advice of the local writers/program hosts
who actually get dirt under their fingernails
like Felder Rushing or Norman Winter.
