I'm having the same bloom problems that Donald describes, and I'm sure it's not due to any freeze. We have had abnormally hot weather for the past two months punctuated with several days about a week apart thirty degrees cooler. We have had exactly one tenth of an inch of rain since the first week in December or last year. Of course I never let my irises go dry, but I think they miss the rain anyway. There is a big shortage of double socketed blossoms. Most have only six or fewer flowers. The clumps are large and healthy and the blossoms big, just not many of them. That makes it hard to evaluate my seedlings which are starting to bloom now. I guess I'll save everything that's pretty. The worst thing is I think all irises are pretty.

. AB's took a hit.
I'm seeing a lot of attempt to go ahead and bloom and am seeing some odd
things. Mainly a lack of branching and side buds, but also some normal
height bloom stalks without any buds in the spathes. On some established
clumps the stalks range from normal height to down in the fan and heights
all in between. On the same clump. There was a noticeable lack of pollen
on the early blooms, but I'm seeing it on many of those blooming this week.
Foliage is still abnormal on may, but some have finally began to grow out of
it. I suspect nothing really escaped some effect from the freeze. As Dana
said, it was very cold for us at anytime of year and it followed a few mild
weeks. Plants that weren't responding to the mild temps probably were
ailing in some way anyway.
