	Yes, you have that straight.  At least as far as it goes.  I don't know
what percentage of intro's get sold to other gardens for the purpose of
having them for sale in a few years and how many go to gardeners who like
having the new stuff.  I would bet that until you get up into the Keppel,
Aitken, Tasco, Shreiner, Ernst (if I left anyone out please don't be
offended I was in a hurry)level that most other gardens don't flock to buy
your new intros. Rather they wait a year or two, or maybe until they see it
at convention or wherever and then buy it.  But hey, I am very much a novice
in this area and just making educated guesses.

I understand! "Think" is the definitive word there!
        And Randy, thank you also. Your comment about the CAPITAL X
helped me grasp the whole concept a bit more.
        So, Dana, if I'm understanding you. . . If you, (as a grower)
hybridize and introduce an iris in your catalog for $40, any and ALL
other growers can buy it from you, grow it out and in two years
(approximately) sell rhizomes for, let's say, $25. Is that correct? They
would have to buy a bunch at $40 to propagate enough to have ready for
the market when they advertised at $25 I would think. That means that the
hybridizer has about two years to make top dollar on HIS creation before
other growers have the same rhizome for sale at a lesser price. . .am I
getting this straight?
        Whew!!
