HYB: winners & losers

Summary from the row of last year's seedlings planted late. Haven't had time/courage to inventory the bigger ones planted last spring in other locations - some were covered and are mostly ok (tho not all), others are scattered throughout the garden and will take a while to find. Also haven't inventoried the ones still leftover in pots.

Of 151 seedlings in the row, only 11 are definitely dead, and most of those died before the freeze. An additional 81 are probably going to die, but I won't cross them off for a few weeks. Most of the remaining 62 plants will <probably> recover. Too soon to tell.

The best news - 12 are in excellent shape - nothing worse than ends of leaves burned.

The 12 winners are:
2 of 10 from CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE X SAVANNAH SUNSET (I didn't think this was a strong cross!)
1 of 1 from WORLD PREMIER X VM
1 of 1 from IC31 X DOCTOR ALAN
(IC31 is one of the IMM X CELEBRATION SONG kids)
1 of 1 from PFb1 X GOLDEN APPLE (PFb1 is big floppy bee baby from Pink Formal) 1 of 19 from LUXOR GOLD X CLOUD BERRY (delighted to get one really strong one from this cross)
3 of 6 from VIOLET MIRACLE X EASY LIVING
(a pleasant big surprise - EL was healthy here, but bloomed out - let's hope these don't!)
4 of 5 from PINK FORMAL X IC4 yr2
(this is a 'junk' cross, not surprising to see such performance. IC4 is IMM X CSONG, the one I get complaints about being so weedy <g>)

The worst (100% may die) are:

5 of 5 ABOVE THE CLOUDS X my SDB seedling
1 of 1 ENGLISH COTTAGE X SHARPSHOOTER
2 of 2 CSARM3 X bee (CSARM3 is Celebration Song X Armageddon)
2 of 2 GRAND BAROQUE X CRAZY FOR YOU

More than 2/3 of these are also probably going to die (badly damaged):

12 of 19 LUXOR GOLD X CLOUD BERRY
 2 of 3 IC4 X CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE yr 2 (IC4 is another IMM X CSONG seedling
 2 of 3 DOCTOR ALAN X BALCSrbw (Behold A Lady X CSONG)
 7 of 9 CRAZY FOR YOU X IC1 yr2 (IC1 is another IMM X CSONG seedling)
4 of 5 PINK FORMAL X BETTY DUNN
8 of 10 HARVEST OF MEMORIES X PINK QUARTZ (this cross grew <really> well, but couldn't take the cold)

Am trying to keep a spreadsheet of survivors & losses, which I will be happy to share with anyone who wants to see it after I enter the rest.
