As the days begin to warm up, I'm noticing plants under the canopy of a tree or shrub do not appear damaged by the killer freeze. Out in the open it's very confusing to see side by side clumps of iris one suffering from damage the other with little or no damage. There must be something in the background that also determines cold tolerance.
Reblooming iris have the lest damage, tall bearded the most A few of the SDBs are starting to bloom, MTBs have not even started to send up stalks.
