Re: CA frost
Freeze and pollen experience.?
After a freeze much like this one, I went happyily along making crosses, with what looked like good pollen.? Crosses with certain irises were a total wash.? Nothing took.? Even though the pollen looked good, the freeze had wiped out the fertility--according to something I read later in the same year.?
Might be worth watching.?

Thanks Linda,?
Since it was only 30 I don't think the damage will be too bad. It is very interesting to watch the reaction of individual plants. Some flowers came through just fine while others just melted away. Some even had damage on one stalk in a clump but no damage on a different stalk in the same clump. Most of our rebloomers did OK, some don't look affected at all. Some oncers melted and others did fine. Seems like the ones with thicker substance were not affected, which makes sense to me. This years intros had no damage at all maybe due to location in the fields or soil temp??
This is all new to me.?
