almost-bloom report

I noticed today that the first bearded iris is in bud in my garden:
the miniature dwarf APRIL BALLET. It is planted on the (relatively)
warm terraces in the front yard. The back yard, where all the irises
were before this year, is about a month behind because of cold and
shade. This is the first time I've had a bearded iris blooming in
April since I've been in Los Alamos.

So I guess "real" iris season is finally here!
