Re: How Much Cold

Ellen -- second your thoughts about the true north. I'm south of you and
I understand what you are saying. We are just getting out to wash off
the streets and the mud and pick up the garbage that has been frozen into
snow drifts and think about raking up the matted leaves. It's too early
to wash the car. I hear we will get up to 65 on Friday. Better yet,
the night temperature will be 40 (they say) by friday. And we are
basking in warmth. I could work outside without my earmuffs today.

AS I was working, I found I lost Anna Rettig's Grand Island White. Did you
see it at Convention, Clarence? She's a grand old lady who finally introduced
some Japanese. A real prize person and plant... and the rizome was mushy and
full of a nest of worms. Hope they liked it.

ADDITIONALLY:
I acquired three Louisanas last fall -- forgot to bring the names
to this room -- and it looks like they might survive. Strange looking, tho.
Like a big fat siberian root. Is that it? Sticking out of the ground?
Greenish at the tip, not yet a growth? What's normal?

Glad to hear you might have somethng special R. Turley...name right??
Keep us informed!!
