Carolyn Schaffner here trying to balance on that thread I jumped on.

And seconding Bill Smoot's motion that you have a sanctioned show.  It's just
a matter of corresponding with the AIS show chair... 

The purpose of AIS is to educate the public about iris, as well as the members.
If you keep the show as an affair open to the public, you open up all sorts
of possibilities.  A "public's choice" ballot -- advertise your show and sale
(our sale and auction supports the Region's activities as well as the club's)
-- get together with general garden club people -- invite judges from other
regions -- the possibilities for networking are as numberous as your creativity
allows.  It's a bit selfish to keep the show to yourselves.  You owe the rest
of AIS and the international community....  Look at your mission statement...
