Janet, I have many hosta which attract slugs even more than irises...I could
probably not even grow hosta if I did not use the product DEADLINE to kill
the slugs. Birds and animals are not attracted to it, and it is very
effective. After a couple of rains, tho, you must reapply. Now all you
organic gardeners (who I greatly admire) don't jump on me! I try to be as
"organic" as I reasonably can...but I am not going to stop using DEADLINE or
CYGON 2E (for iris borer) because nothing else is really effective...and
believe me, I've tried 'em all, including many of the silly ones. Cheers,
