Robert: Be sure to have as many judges as possible view your seedling
before you register it to make sure they think it is distinctive enough.
Have you entered it in the seedling class at a show for evaluation?
There are thousands and thousands of iris cultivars and it will die a slow
(or quick) death if it doesn't meet the distinctive enough criteria.
Have you a plan to introduce it? Or do you just want to officially name it?
What are your plans for guesting it around the country to be sure it is
garden worthy?
These are some questions all hybridizers consider. But there's absolutely nothing to stop you from registering your seedling. Any hybridizers on
this list to advise here? Clarence Mahan is very famous for being very very
careful about what he registers and introduces. Comments here?
