In January 1995, the RVP for Region 5, which includes S.Carolina, Georgia,
Florida and Puerto Rico was Mrs. Arvid Honkanen, PO Box 235, Isle of Palms,
SC 29451 at (803) 886-4691. She can tell you about clubs local to your
area. Or, give newer information. The Regional Vice President here in
the Empire State Iris Society has a goal during her term of office to visit
each local group. This is only one state, however, therefore do-able.
ESIS has a spring board meeting and a fall board meeting, also. You might
have a Regional Iris Show, and certainly a Fall Board meeting, or some
get together of the total membership (well, an OPPORTUNITY for the total
membership) -- your RVP should help with this. It's his/her responsibility.
START YER OWN SOCIETY!! Ask the RVP for help.
The RVPs are always listed in the Bulletin which comes to you as
a member of AIS.
Ask also if there are any newsletters of the societies (clubs) in
your area --
Western New York has a newsletter called The Iris Borer. Sound
familiar?
