re: latin

i love the stuff you guys share - i say A cor us, as in ACHE or us, so i also
say pseud
A cor us.

simone says -
<as I work in a scientific research facility we often have this problem
generally
the way the most senior scientist pronounces a word wins. If the are a
dead heat in knowledge/stubborness then they both ignore each others
pronunciation. >

this seems to be the norm around here, too. as one fairly low on the totem
pole, i take perverse satisfaction in continuing my own barbaric
pronunciations, regardless. so i guess that makes me one of the stubborn
ones. what a shock!

louise - i think language is a free for all (don't you ever watch tv?) - just
some pronounciations (as they say) don't contribute very well to
communication.

i think it is really funny that those of us communicating in writing are
having this long discussion about pronunciation. : )
