transporting iris to show

I just watched a one hour programme on public television, showing the 
preparations for the 1994 Chelsea Flower Show.  Some flowers are sent 
long distances - from Tobago, Hawaii, and a container load that took a 
couple of weeks being shipped from South Africa.  One segment of the 
programme showed how irises are shipped, swathed in cotton wool and bound 
with tape to keep the buds from opening enroute.
