Karin Hinsen mentioned the following hybridizers:
Niswonger, Keppel, Dunn, Ghio, Maryott, Schreiner, Meek, Innerst,
Kerr, Muilin, Durrance, Burseen, Hoage
and said that she wasn't sure where most of them were from. Niswonger (the
current president of AIS) is in Missouri. Keppel used to be from California
but moved up to Oregon a few years ago. Dunn (there are actually two of them
-- Mary and Bob) are in California. Ghio and Maryott are both in the San Jose
(California) area. Schreiner is in the Willamette Valley, south of Portland
(Oregon). Meek is also in Oregon. Innerst is in Pennsylvania. Kerr is a
California hybridizer. Burseen is from Texas. I'm not sure about Durrance
(Colorado?) and Hoage (no idea).
Karin also asked:
I was asked to try out 'Lady Bird Johnson' by a member of our club a
couple of years ago (last year maybe??) It is just being introduced
this year I am waiting for it to bloom. It grew well for me though.
I think that the hybridizer is C Mahan. Is that the same person as
the Mahan on this list?
The answer is a most emphatic yes. Clarence has introduced many nice irises
over the years. If you haven't grown his recent MTB introduction "Reminiscence,"
you definitely should. Not only is it beautiful, but it's a good grower in
many different gardens around the US. He's also introduced several reblooming
TBs.
