Sources for I. ensata 'Variegata':
Carolyn, you sent me back to my file of plant orders. The variegated Japanese
iris here came from:
Niche Gardens, 1111 Dawson Rd. Chapel Hill, NC 27514, ph (919) 967-0078.
It's also available from:
Roslyn Nursery, 211 Burrs Lane, Dix Hills, NY 11746, ph (516) 643-9347
Plant Delights Nursery, 9241 Sauls Rd., Raleigh, NC 27603, ph (919) 772-4794.
Now I need some locating help. Does anyone have a source for an I. ensata x I.
pseudacorus cultivar named 'Sayo-no-tuki'? There's a photo of the bloom in
Currier McEwen's book on JI: white with a yellow haft area that's outlined by a
thin violet 'stitching' pattern.
It's gorgeous, and not in any catalogs I have that carry JIs. For reasons
given earlier, I haven't tempted myself with big specialist listings like the
Ensata Gardens catalog. Is it in there? That would be enough to make me send
for the catalog and take my chances on being able to resist the rest of their
offerings....
