Without a doubt, about the only thing we missed while we were away were the
gardens and iris lists. The former was put on no mail, the latter in
digest form is being printed daily and we have a way to go to catch up. My
husband likes to read it all in print and won't miss anything - we have it
all from day one and are learning a great deal. Looks as though we acquired
some new members while we were gone. How big are we now, Tom?
Didn't see too many iris while we were in Italy but there were some, I
believe MTB's, blooming here and there, mostly in terra cotta pots. We will
be sending our black iris to a new friend who loved our photos of them;
they will grow on a hillside in Umbria, not far from Perugia and Assisi.
Received the new Schreiner's and Cooley's catalogs on the same day. If this
is overkill, what a way to go! They are breathtakingly beautiful. But our
main orders for this year will be for more siberians and Japanese irises.
There are two spurias coming from new friends. All this pleasure and a
whole new iris list family to share it with! Now, if it would just stop
snowing. :-(
