Hi Nell-- I never could keep the numbers straight for ph. I meant to
raise the level of acid, regardless of the ph number. You sound like you
really know about this stuff with your soil. Lots of compost of any sort
aught to be most helpful. Do you have lots of stuff around? Does alfalfa
work for you? Composting kitchen scraps, leaves and all sorts of things
brings ph to the middle, doesn't it? Certainly might help trap that water.
Variagated foliage on JI sounds wonderful. What's the cultivar's name, who
supplies it?
