Julie:  I think this is an INSPIRED topic... and I look forward to all the
answers that I can glean for our local newsletter, The Irisborer.

My personal favorite is to get your self some paper box lids (like for xerox
paper) or something like that.  Run string (maybe 3 times) across the box
lids and tape them down rather taut.... you can then lay the TB stalks on the
string, and using masking tape, keep them in place.  I put wet papertowl on
the end of the stalk.  The plants bounce along on the string with NO
damage..... until you lift them out of the car and snap off the terminal on
the door jamb.

I've tried buckets with rolled up newspaper....soda cartons...etc.  The box
lids work for me.  BTW... you can lay stalks on top of each other at
different angles.
