It's amazing what a few days in the 80's will do -after this winter, those
irises were not taking any chances. I have pregnant TBs all over the place,
some with stalks. JESSE'S SONG has color showing. TENNESSEE GENTLEMAN has
its first bud stalk in the 5 yrs I've grown it, PACIFIC DESTINY its first in
3 yrs - they both seem to like being grown like a row crop - they are out in
the 'you better bloom here/this is your last chance before being 'dumped' at
a sale' area. 'The book' says that Tn Gentlman is a late bloomer, but it is
an obvious early bird here, which explains why no flowers usually. It's a
survivor, but only grows enough to replace itself. Pacific Destiny has grown
well and is very healthy, so I am really looking forward to seeing what the
flowers look like.
And I have one lonely bloomstalk of I. pallida open.
