Iris Names

     In reference to BABOON'S BOTTOM I remember seeing it at the Portland AIS
Convention.  Its name did cause quite a bit of conversation.  AND the color
closely resembles what its named after.  BUT when one considers just how many
new introductions and seedlings (probably at least a thousand) were seen at the
convention the name was an excellent marketing ploy.  Almost everyone knew the
name, color, and hybridizer of that iris!  As a fairly new hybridizer - most of
AIS knows him now - and I even like the iris!  Pretty good marketing strategy.
