Gregory,
I also order garden markers from Eon Industries...much cheaper
than buying similiar ones at the garden shops or nurseries! I use a
nursery marking pen on my labels or paint markers (they are sold at
Walmart in the toy department next to the models). I prefer the paint
markers for my iris as I can color coordinate like iris labels with the
same color of marker...blue for space-agers, red for rebloomers, etc.
As far as a computer program for iris I would highly recommend
the program sold by Superstition Gardens (sorry, they are the only
source I know for this). I ordered this program 2 years ago for my
mother as a Mother's Day gift...she was kind enough to share a copy with
me. For each cultivar entered, it has many fields to fill in...iris
name, hybridizer, year intro., color, pattern, height, blooming season,
class, gives you a paragraph to fill in with pertinent info, and the
best feature...you enter the row, section and plant # and it will print
out a garden map for you. You can also chose reports by iris color,
class, hybridizer, pattern, etc. I has just sent for the Windows 95
update...oh, and the price is $54.95 postpaid for the Collector's
Edition or a much more detailed program is available for $199.95
postpaid. I have been nothing but pleased with this software...has
definetly paid for itself by reducing the frustration of keeping good
records and the aggravation of a lost plant tag!!! The company is:
