Louise - Good to hear that labelling rocks works - that was going to be my
next attempt. I was thinking of using acryllic paint - have you ever tried
it?
And ditto to burying labels. I find the most permanent marker that I have
used so far is a small plastic tag labelled with 'permanent' marker placed
face down next to the plant with a small rock placed on top of it. My garden
is nothing more than a pile of rocks, gravel, and organic matter in some
places so it works well for me. Labels from some of the first plants I
bought in the early 70's are still out there.
I use cut up cottage cheese/yogurt containers, but they don't hold ink as
well as store bought plastic labels.
Are these soft pencils something I can get at a walmart/kmart equivalent? Or
are they a garden specialty item?
Has anybody tried crayon?
