Tom and others - glad to hear I am not the only one who likes a nice
statuesque iris instead of iris made to look like a bedding plant - what I
think Hermann called 'bunnies'. I do like ruffles and wide falls, but not so
ruffled or so wide that the basic graceful form of the iris flower is
obscured. And I really don't like those rigid stiff looking flowers with
airplane wings for 'falls'. The flower of Victoria Falls is about right to
me (I know she falls down for most folks north of here, but she does fine
here) - although maybe a tiny bit too big.
It's so easy to find the faults with all the thousands of iris around, and I
have been so wrapped up in finding ones that grow well that it's hard to
think of ones that have flower shape that I prefer!
Good question!
