This posting dittos Bill Smoot's remarks... Same situation in WESTERN NEW YORK
IRIS SOCIETY.
Our sale and auction has come to be THE place for the public to go
to find iris, ask questions of real growers, see demonstrations of how to
divide and plant, and to purchase cygon if you ask, and to view a borer.
And to meet folks in your neighborhood who grow iris so you can go
visit the gardens.
Buyers know that everything they buy at a local sale will thrive in
the area. This is the mainest reason -- you're guarenteed a good buy --
almost.
WNYIS's sale also demonstrates how to lengthen the growing season, from
earliest (but not with species iris or LI or PCI) dwarfs thru beardless...
all are on sale -- we should look into species for the sales.
