RM> Got news for you, Dahlias are not Blubs, they're clusters of Blubers.
And news for both of you!!!!!! Dahlias do NOT form rhizomes
like Irises, nor do they form bulbs which have leaves wrapped
around one another like an onion.
They form a TUBER like a potato, which has "eyes" (really buds)
at the stem end. Tubers can be cut up and, in theory, each
piece with a viable bud will produce a new plant.
Bulbs have no buds on them, the buds are tucked away deep
inside. Bulbs cannot be reproduced by division UNLESS the bulb
has sprouted baby bulbs at the base, then each of those can be
grown on to a full plant.
