AMY again:
Gotta tell you a little about Terry Aitken -- not much, so others
can listen in. My all time favorite Aitken cultivar is Cascadian Skies,
an absolutely fantastic blue self. It won Queen of the Show for me awhile
back when I didn't know very much about anything. Hybridizers names didn't
mean much. I knew what I liked, etc, etc. And so I thought the hybridizer
would be thrilled that it got to be Queen of the Show. So I looked up his
address, wrote him a note and he wrote me the sweetest note back. I was
doubly thrilled !!
Since then I have accumulated lots more of his things and paid a lot
more attention to the ads and the results of the shows when all the Queens
of Shows and the results of polls at conventions. Terry Aitken's name is
thoroughly represented.
What a nice guy.
Great plants, too.
The above line should read something like -- when the results of shows and
results of polls at conventions are announced in the AIS Bulletin --
I can't go back into my text to make corrections.... got to thinking not
writing.
