Clarence -- maybe the borer is smart.  It doesn't dessimate a clump of 
versicolor like it will a clump of TB's. Also doesn't do in a clump of
SDB's either.  Maybe it will leave some for the next generation.. Like birds
will not eat every bug so that some are left... I don't think it's intentional.
But it happens.  Maybe the slugs see that row of TB's as one HUGE clump and
don't eat everything in it, just taste everythng.  DAmn, how they will
be ALL OVER!! everything in the row will have it.  But I have to keep the
TB's isolated from other things for the rot problem.  The borer leaves a 
huge tunnel in the rhizome if not caught in the act, and that's a way that
rot will set in if it gets rainy and wet during that period of time.
 (you already know that, but for folks who don't have borer and wish they
did, it might be new info)
Some folks don't need to isolate their TB's either.  In borer prone areas,
we have to be inventive!!
